Ok I give up, what is this?
![]() 08/07/2013 at 19:41 |
|
A car with a curiously positioned first gear.

OH! Is is a mercedes of some sort?
![]() 08/07/2013 at 19:44 |

Is that an Alpina?
![]() 08/07/2013 at 19:44 |

Nearly there.

Cold but in the right country.

Cosworth Mercedes?
![]() 08/07/2013 at 19:46 |
|
My Corvair has a shift pattern like the left 2/3rds of that.
![]() 08/07/2013 at 19:46 |
|
A numbered Cosworth Mercedes.

Mercedes 190E cosworth!
![]() 08/07/2013 at 19:47 |
|
190 Cosworth. lol
![]() 08/07/2013 at 19:48 |

As you've figured out, it is a Mercedes. My best guess is a 190 Evo.
![]() 08/07/2013 at 19:49 |

$78000, NPoCP?
![]() 08/07/2013 at 19:49 |

If this is for a 190 Evolution, both of them. I'm done having kids anyway.
![]() 08/07/2013 at 19:50 |

Mercedes Benz 190E of some variation? That interior looks distinctly late 80s- early 90s German. Not sure why.
Um, I'd give ya about tree fiddy.

The first Evo II that I've seen for sale in a while.

I've seen more Porsche 911 GT1 for sale at this website than 190e Evo II... I bet that it will be sold in no time.

I'm not going to say CP but that is a bit more than I would be willing to spend on one.

If you prefer this sort of Teutonic web-based masochism, these folks will also cause you no end of bliss:

I'd recognize that dog leg first anywhere. James May happened to drive one in TG. Mercedes Cosworth.
![]() 08/07/2013 at 20:14 |

This is not the common Mercedes Cosworth. 144/500 is a sizable hint ;)
![]() 08/07/2013 at 20:17 |

Alright fine it's a 190E. I'd give my right nut for one of those.
![]() 08/07/2013 at 20:18 |

Which BTW was the one May drove.

Not quite.

Well I still got the 190E part right ;)
![]() 08/07/2013 at 20:38 |

I think the BMWs (and Alpinas) and Mercs with this shift pattern all use the Getrag 265CR dogleg box. I've got one in my E9 - not factory there.

Well, you seem to know more than me about that transmission then.

I'd like to find one, car attached, in a barn-find-of-the-decade story where it was stored alongside one or two other greats of the time, like an e30 M3 Sport Evo and maybe an RS200.
Could you imagine.
